The name of the village of Faqua’a has recently been associated with the iris flower. The Faqqu’a iris became the first Palestinian national plant, according to an announcement by the Palestinian Council of Ministers. It grows only in the Faqua’a mountain range and in the surrounding area, which has earned the village local and international fame as it is a very distinctive plant. The village council holds an annual festival to celebrate the opening of this flower. In 2019, more than 10,000 visitors visited the Faqua’a Mountains and its garden, which was built with the aim of attracting domestic tourism to the village. Several hiking and religious trails pass through the village, through visitors can enjoy the natural diversity that the iris flower adorns in the spring.

In 2016 the Palestinian council of Ministers declared the Faqqu’a iris flower as the national plant of Palestine. Since this flower grows in Faqqu’a mountains only, the attention of tourists from all over the country was drawn to visit Faqqu’a, enjoy the sight and beauty of this rare and endangered flower.

A group of environmental institutions has carried out a “field guide to biodiversity in Faqqu’a Mountains”, whereby a comprehensive survey of the biodiversity of plants, animals, birds, reptiles and insects was carried out and documented in the directory with its scientific, Latin and popular names.

ارتبط اسم قرية فقوعة بزهرة السوسن حديثا فقد أصبحت سوسنة فقوعة النبتة الوطنية الفلسطينية الأولى بإعلان من مجلس الوزراء الفلسطيني، فهي تنمو في سلسلة جبال فقوعة و المنطقة المحيطة فقط مما اكسب القرية شهرة محلية و عالمية كونها تنفرد بنبتة مميزة جدا. و يقيم مجلس القرية مهرجانا سنويا احتفالا بموعد تفتح هذه الزهرة ففي عام 2019 زار اكثر من 10000 زائر جبال فقوعه وحديقتها التي تم بنائها بهدف جذب السياحة الداخلية للقرية. كما يمر في القرية عدة مسارات بيئية و دينية يستطيع الزوار من خلالها الاستمتاع بالتنوع الطبيعي الذي تزينه زهرة السوسن في فصل الربيع.

تم اعتماد زهرة سوسنة فقوعة من قبل مجلس الوزراء عام ٢٠١٦النبتة الوطنية لفلسطين .وبما أن هذه الزهرة تنمو في جبال فقوعة توجهت أنظار السياح من جميع أرجاء الوطن لزيارة جبال فقوعة والاستمتاع بمنظر وجمال هذه الزهرة النادرة والمهددة بالانقراض. قامت مموعة من المؤسسات البيئية بعمل “الدليل الحقلي للتنوع الحيوي في جبال فقوعة” بحيث تم عمل مسح شامل للتنوع البيئي من نباتات وحيوانات وطيور وزواحف وحشرات وتوثيقها في الدليل بمسمياتها العلمية والاتينية والشعبية .يعتبر هذا الدليل مرجع للتنوع الحيوي في سلسلة جبال فقوعة
