The system of family settlement in Jalboun remained unchanged until recently, with the flock of each family kept in a common courtyard, with a single fence and a door.  The domicile of Aref Awwad still preserves its old shape, though it requires maintenance and restoration.  The house was built on approximately 500 square meters.  The entrance to the house features of five arches and a yard.  The house itself consists of two floors and has five rooms that were used for living and storing hay and grain.  The house also has a well for storing rainwater for drinking.

ظل النظام الأسري في جلبون تجمعه الأرحام و السكن إلى عهد قريب، فكانت الأفخاد من كل عائلة يجمعها حوش واحد، وبسورٍ وباب. ولا يزال حوش عارف عواد محافظاً على هيئته القديمة، ولكنه يحتاج إلى الصيانة والترميم. أقيم البيت على (500) متر مربع تقريباً، يتكون مدخل البيت من خمس قناطر و ساحة، أما البيت فيتكون من طابقين وفيه خمسة غرف كانت تستخدم للمعيشة و تخزين التبن و الحبوب.  كما يحتوي البيت على بئر لتخزين مياه الأمطار للشرب.
