Deir Ghazzala village is located in the northeast of the city of Jenin, north of the West Bank. It has a population of 1500 people and an area of 6500 acres. Situated at 5 km from the city centre of Jenin, it is considered one of the most naturally beautiful villages in the historical plains of Marj Ibn Amer, characterized by its environmental diversity of Flora. The history of the modern village dates back to 400 years ago, and its residents generally work in agriculture, especially the cultivation of carob, grapes and olives. According to the local population, the name of the village is explained by one of two popular folkloric narratives. The first is relates it to the presence of a large number of wild deers (Ghazal- in Arabic language) that found shelter in the village. The second is that the village once hosted a monastery, and a nun who lived there was called Ghazala, and therefore the village was named after her.

تقع قرية دير غزالة في الشمال الشرقي من مدينة جنين شمال الضفة الغربية ويبلغ عدد سكانها 1500 نسمة كما تبلغ مساحة القرية حوالي 6500 دونم وتبعد عن مركز مدينة جنين 5 كم وهي من أجمل القرى الواقعة في سهول مرج ابن عامر التاريخية وتتميز بإطلالة خلابة للمناظر الطبيعية والبيئة المحيطة. أيضا تتميز بالتنوع البيئي من حيث النباتات  ويعود تاريخ القرية إلى ما قبل  400 سنة ويعتمد سكانها بشكل عام على الزراعة، خاصة زراعة الخروب و العنب و الزيتون. يعود سبب تسمية القرية إلى روايتين، الأولى هي وجود عدد كبير من الغزلان البرية تأتي للاستراحة في القرية. و الثانية هي أن القرية كان موجود بها دير والراهبة التي كانت موجودة به اسمها غزالة وقد سميت القرية على اسمها.
