If you are a fan of poetry and folkloric Zajal, then you should not miss a visit to Al-Jalama, a Palestinian village located in the northeast of Jenin. With a population of 2,500, a notable part of which shows a devotion to poetry, Al-Jalama hosts several festivals and poetry competitions throughout the year gathering poets from all over the country. The village is also famous for the abundance of agricultural crops, with an area of ​​6000 acres for the cultivation of wheat, olives, squash and many other products. Thousands of acres of Al-Jalama’s land have been confiscated to make way for the construction of the apartheid wall, resulting in the establishment of what is known as Al-Jalama Checkpoint. This is the only checkpoint where workers and commercial goods are allowed to pass between the West Bank and the occupied Palestinian territories, making it the main gateway to Jenin governorate for Palestinian visitors from the occupied territories of 48.

إذا كنت من عشاق الشعر و الزجل الشعبي فقرية الجلمة هي المكان المناسب للزيارة. الجلمة قرية فلسطينية تقع الى الشمال الشرقي من مدينة جنين و يبلغ عدد سكانها 2500 نسمة. تتميز القرية بكثرة الشعراء فيها حيث يقام فيها العديد من مهرجانات و مسابقات الشعر السنوي و يشارك فيها الشعراء من كل أنحاء البلاد. تشتهر المدينة أيضا بكثرة المحاصيل الزراعية إذ تبلغ مساحتها 6 الف دونم و يعمل أهلها في زراعة القمح والزيتون و القرع والعديد من الزراعات الأخرى. تم مصادرة آلاف الدونمات من أراضي القرية لصالح جدار الفصل العنصري ومن أجل إقامة ما يعرف بحاجز الجلمة والذي يعتبر الحاجز الوحيد الذي يتم من خلاله إدخال العمال والبضائع التجارية إلى الضفة الغربية من أراضي فلسطين المحتلة مما جعلها البوابة الرئيسية لمدينة جنين و زوارها من فلسطينيي الداخل المحتل
