This church was named after the visit of the Virgin Mary to her aunt Elizabeth when she headed from Nazareth to Ein Karem, where the church was named after this visit. A cave is located below the residence of the pastor of the Latin Church, and it is a cave located under the house of the Latin parish priest.

سميت هذه الكنيسة نسبة الى زيارة السيدة العذراء مريم الى خالتها اليصابات عندما توجهت من الناصرة الى عين كارم، حيث سميت الكنيسة بهذا الاسم نسبة الى هذه الزيارة. و قد بنيت أول كنيسة للاتين سنة 1883 ثم تم توسعتها عام 1913 و تم بناء كنيسة جديدة عام 1974 و تم ترميمها حديثا عام 2006.

تقع مغارة أسفل سكن راعي كنيسة اللاتين وهي مغارة تقع أسفل منزل كاهن رعية اللاتين وهي واسعة جدا كان يستخدمها الأهالي في الهروب من الأخطار وقد تم ترميم جزء منها وتم افتتاحه أمام المواطنين عام 2018.
