Most residents of Jalboun belong to one extended lineage, the Abu al-Rubb family.  Their great-grandfather, Ahmad Abd al-Karim Abu al-Rubb, became famous during Palestine’s Great Revolt in 1936, when he was sentenced to death by the British but subsequently released.  Abu al-Rubb was one of the organizers of the revolution, and he was taken prisoner in Haifa and sentenced to death.  After spending five years in prison, he was brought out before his relatives and the residents of Jalboun in red execution clothes, to carry out the death sentence.  While people were waiting for this horrific event, the British announced a pardon for him, and sentenced him instead to life imprisonment.  In 1947, before Britain terminated its Mandate over Palestine, he was released and returned home to Jalboun.

ينتمي معظم سكان قرية جلبون الى عائلة واحدة و هي عائلة أبي الرب إذ كان لجدهم الأكبر(أحمد عبد الكريم أبو الرب) قصة مميزة في الثورة الفلسطينية الكبرى عام 1936 حين تم الحكم عليه بالإعدام ثم الإفراج. فهو أحد الثوار المنظمين للثورة و قد تم أخذه اسيرا فيها ليقبع في سجن حيفا و يحكم عليه بالإعدام، و بعد أن أمضى خمس سنوات في السجن جيء به بملابس الإعدام الحمراء لتنفيذ الحكم بحضور أقاربه وبعض أهالي قرية جلبون. وبينما الناس تترقب هذا المشهد المفزع؛ إذ أعلنوا العفو عنه، والحكم عليه بالسجن المؤبد.  وفي عام 1947م، وقبل إن تنهي  بريطانيا انتدابها على فلسطين عفت عنه، وكان قد أمضى سنتين ونصف من الحكم المؤبد في سجن عكا. فعاد إلى جلبون في شهر ايار، بعد سبع سنوات ونصف من السجن في سجني: حيفا وعكا.
