The town of Deir Abu Daif is famous for growing cucumbers, which need hot and humid weather, loose organic soil and plenty of sunlight. It also needs large areas as it is a climbing plant. Cultivation methods have recently been developed in the town due to the high demand for the cucumber product, as farmers plant it in two loops, the first in the spring and the second at the beginning of the autumn, these cucumbers are usually pickled. Cucumbers are sorted according to different sizes and sold in the local market as well as distributed to pickle factories.

أشتهرت بلدة دير أبو ضعيف بزراعة الخيار، فهو يحتاج الى طقس حار و رطب، و تربة عضوية رخوة و الكثير من أشعة الشمس بالإضافة الى أنه يحتاج مساحات كبيرة لأنه نبات متسلق. تم تطوير أساليب الزراعة في البلدة مؤخرا لكثرة الطلب على منتوج الخيار إذ يقوم الفلاحون بزراعته في عروتين الأولى في فصل الربيع والثانية مع بداية فصل الخريف وذلك لتوفير أكبر كمية من الخيار لأغراض المخللات إذ يتم فرز الخيار بحسب الأحجام المختلفة و بيعه في السوق المحلي كما توزيعه على مصانع المخللات.
